Police raided Dean Wright's home in Ravenshead, on February 5, last year, and seized three devices, on which they found 254 still images and 15 movies.

Analysis revealed there were 15 Category A images, which is the most extreme category, 64 Category B and 174 Category C images, said prosecutor Julia King.

The images featured children as young as four, and some were bound, she told Nottingham Crown Court, on Friday.

"The search terms he used are clearly designed to find this sort of material," she said.

Wright, of previous good character, initially claimed the images were downloaded inadvertently and he denied having a sexual interest in children.

Richard Gibbs, mitigating, said: "He does not seek to diminish the distressing nature of the offences. He has engaged with Safer Lives. He is trying to rebuild trust with his wife."

Wright, 52, of Longdale Lane, Ravenshead, pleaded guilty to making indecent images of children.

Judge John Burgess told him: "For every picture you looked at there is a child who was subject to the most disgusting abuse. Without the market for these images they wouldn't be photographed or videoed."

Wright received eight months, suspended for 18 months, and was ordered to attend 30 rehabilitation days and complete a course "to help him appreciate the problems caused by this sort of offence."

A Sexual Harm Prevention Order was also imposed, banning him from accessing the internet without police monitoring, for ten years.
