Jason Myrtle, aka Smith, aged 47, of Thompson Crescent, Sutton, pleaded guilty to nine counts of making indecent images of a child, on Feburary 14.

Nottingham Crown Court heard on Thursday how his home was raided at 9am, on May 2, last year, and three computers were seized.

Prosecutor Caroline Bradley said Myrtle was traced as part of a larger police operation into the distribution of child porn.

One 35 minute movie clip showed the rape of an eight-year-old child, she said.

In addition, Myrtle had 36 Category A videos, 13 Category C videos, one Category B images and 7,872 Category C images, where Category A is the most extreme.

He told police that curiosity got the better of him and accepted he was solely responsible for the downloads.

Matthew Buckland, mitigating, said Myrtle pleaded guilty at the first opportunity and called him a "good candidate for rehabilitation."

Judge John Burgess said Myrtle was "quite rightly" disgusted with himself and told him: "Every one of those children you were looking at has been abused and abused for financial gain.

"If it wasn't for people like you those children wouldn't be abused."

He imposed a two year community order with 30 rehabilitation days "customised to address the problems that you had."

Myrtle was placed on the Sex Offenders Register for five years and a five-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order, to monitor his internet use, was made. He was barred from working with children.
