A Huthwaite man who threatened to damage vehicles and also sent threatening messages to a woman has been spared prison.

Ashley Day admitted the offences when he appeared before Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, June 9, according to court records.

The offences of making threats occurred between June 3 and 4 at Newcastle Street, Huthwaite against the female.

In one, Day, 34, of Sutton Road, Huthwaite, threatened to cause damage vehicles belonging to other people. He also sent a message via his phone “causing distress or anxiety to the recipient”.

He was given a six-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, and was given a two-year community order to include a 31-day ‘building better relationships’ programme.

Magistrates also issued a two-year restraining order, banning Day from contacting the victim by any means, or to enter certain parts of Huthwaite.

He must also pay a £128 victim surcharge and £85 in prosecution costs.
