Notts man who threatened cops with 'piece of scaffolding board and dog' jailed

A Boughton man who threatened police with a piece of scaffolding board and his dog has been jailed.

Bassetlaw, Newark and Sherwood Neighbourhood Support Unit received reports of a man who threatened to spit in the face of another resident on Wednesday, April 8.

The officer was unable to locate the suspect, but on speaking with colleagues from the Neighbourhood Police Officer for the area, they were able to identify a suspect, Gareth Wood of Turner Lane, Boughton.

When officers visited the 28 year-old’s address he became aggressive and threatened the officers with a piece of scaffolding board and his dog.

Wood was arrested on Saturday, April 18.

Due to the level of evidence gathered officers, Wood was charged with two offences of threatening behaviour and a common assault.

Wood appeared before the court on Monday when he pleaded guilty to the two threatening behaviour offences and received 16 weeks imprisonment and must pay £200 compensation.
