Notts man threatened to shoot woman with shotgun in ongoing parking row

The victim had been involved in a long-running parking dispute with 43-year-old Alan Muscroft, a court heard.

When she knocked on the door of his home, in Low Road, Scrooby, to confront him about the issue he came out of the property with the gun, pointed it at her and threatened to shoot her.

Muscroft then struck her in the face with it before he was disarmed during the struggle between them.

Her injuries included cuts to her nose, swelling and pain to her teeth.

Muscroft left the address before police arrived but later returned where he was arrested.

He was subsequently charged and he appeared for sentencing at Nottingham Crown Court yesterday (Wednesday 28 April 2021) after pleading guilty to a charge of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

He was given a 10-month prison sentence, suspended for one year, and made subject of a restraining order.

Detective Sergeant Jamie Moore, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We understand that incidents involving firearms and violence are immensely concerning for the community and as such we take them extremely seriously.

“We rigorously investigate reports and will leave no stone unturned as we carry out our enquiries.

“I’d like to reassure the public that we will deal robustly with offenders involved in weapon-enabled crime and strive to seek justice for victims.”
