Notts man caught carrying 'extendable baton' in Ashfield
A Nottinghamshire man has been spared prison after he was caught carrying an offensive weapon in public in Ashfield.
Daniel Ryan Bentley was caught carrying an extendable baton on land off Coxmoor Road, Sutton, on July 2, court records show.
Bentley, 24, of Ruffs Drive, Hucknall, appeared before Nottingham Magistrates’ Court the following day where he admitted the offence.
He also admitted committing the offence while subject to an 18-month conditional discharge, imposed by magistrates’ on March 26 this year, for possession of cannabis and criminal damage.

Bentley was given a total of 146 days in prison but magistrates suspended the sentence for six months – meaning that he will face jail if he offends again during the suspension period.
He was also ordered to pay £85 in prosecution costs and a £128 victim surcharge when he appeared before the court.
