Nottinghamshire Police receive thank you flowers for hard work

Inspector said she was ‘so touched’ to receive thank you bouquet.

A bouqet of flowers was left at Mansfield station for an Inspector after she went to visit a woman to check if she was ok after an incident.

In the note, which was dropped into Mansfield police station, the lady said: "Thank you so much for visiting yesterday. It was so unexpected and made my day! I was smiling for the rest of the day!"

Insp Crawford said: "People sometimes come across the police when they are having the worse time in their life. It was important for me to revisit this lady and assure her she was not forgotten and check that she was receiving the support she needed.

"The police are busy but sometimes just taking that time to revisit someone after the dust has settled is important and shows the compassion we have and helps to build trust in the community.

"We care about people's safety and we want people to be ok and that's what we are here to do - to protect life and prevent harm.”

"I'm so touched to receive these gifts, the lady was so lovely, and really didn't need to go any trouble."

"It's such a stressful time for everyone at the moment and I hope that the lady and others know that we, as a police force, are here for them."
