Nottinghamshire police praise community helpers on International Volunteer Day

Nottinghamshire Police are highlighting the contribution of volunteers and the positive impact they make to mark International Volunteer Day.

Within Nottinghamshire Police volunteers support a wide range of roles including Special Constabulary, Police Support Volunteers, and Volunteer Police Cadets and Cadet Leaders.

Police Support Volunteers are members of the public who volunteer their time to perform tasks that complement the duties of police officers and staff. Roles range from providing front counter services and administration to following up on crime reports and incidents with members of the public.

Special Constables are fully trained, serving officers who volunteer their time to work alongside regular officers. They have the same powers and responsibilities as full-time officers, helping to keep our communities safe while bringing valuable skills and experience from their everyday lives.

Volunteer Police Cadets are young people who give their time to learn about policing, develop life skills, and support community engagement. Cadet Leaders guide and mentor these young volunteers, ensuring they have the knowledge and confidence to make a positive difference.

A Nottinghamshire Police spokesman said: “We'd like to say a huge thank you to each and every one of our volunteers for their service to Nottinghamshire.”
