Nottinghamshire motorists arrested overnight on suspicion of drink and drug driving

Police have arrested two drivers on suspicion of driving while drunk and under the influence of drugs in Nottinghamshire towns, close to Mansfield.

Officers first arrested a 32-year-old man on suspicion of drink driving, as part of their road safety patrols, just before midnight on January 19 in Winthorpe Road, Newark.

The 32-year-old man has since been charged with driving while over the prescribed alcohol limit and bailed to court.

In Ollerton, police from the Newark and Sherwood response team then arrested a second man on suspicion of drug driving while on patrol of the district, after he failed a road side drugs test for cannabis.

A 48-year-old man was detained by officers at 5am on January 20 on Kirklington Road, Rainworth and has also been arrested on suspicion of possessing cannabis.
