An appeal to identify a young child reported to have been walking alone along the A60 on Thursday morning has failed to identify her.
Despite a number of calls from additional members of the public who reported seeing the girl since the appeal was launched, no child has been reported missing to either Nottinghamshire or Derbyshire Police.
Numerous area searches and house-to-house enquiries have been conducted, in a bid to locate the girl and confirm she was safe and well.
She was seen walking along the A60, close to Cuckney and also reported to have been seen close to the turn-off for Creswell between around 8.30am and 8.40am yesterday.
She is described as white, aged between five and eight years old, wearing a pink coat and carrying a back pack.
A police spokesperson said: “We are still keen to identify this girl to make sure she is safe. Her welfare is the most important issue to us, and relatives should have no concern about calling the police if they think she could be the one we are appealing for.”
Anyone who thinks they know who the girl is should contact Nottinghamshire or Derbyshire Police on 101. The Nottinghamshire incident number is 133 of 16 February.
