Murder investigation launched after woman's body found in home

Police have launched a murder investigation following the death of a woman in South Normanton.

Officers were called to a house in Alfred Street at about 10am yesterday by ambulance staff, who found the body of a woman at the property, following a 999 call.

A 39-year-old man was arrested last night on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.

A Derbyshire police spokesperson said: "People living in the area will see an increased number of officers on the streets over the coming days. Please feel free to speak to them.

"As part of our investigation, we also want to hear from anyone who might have information that could assist our detectives."

One neighbour described the woman as ‘amazing’ and said she was a mum-of-three.

Others said she was ‘nice, kind and lovely’.

The home on Alfred Street is taped off and police officers can be seen outside.
