Murder investigation launched after body found on allotment in Derbyshire

A murder investigation has been launched after the body of a man was found in Derbyshire.

At around 10am on Sunday, January 26 a man’s body was found in an allotment off of Prospect Drive, Shirebrook.

Police arrived at the scene to find a man deceased. A post-mortem examination of the body took place this afternoon.

The man suffered injuries that would suggest that he had been assaulted.

A formal identification has not yet taken place and enquiries are ongoing to identify the man’s family.

Detective Inspector Chris Marriott, senior investigating officer, said: “We are appealing to anyone that may have heard any noise or disturbance around the Prospect Drive area to contact us.

“We would also like anyone who lives in the area that might have CCTV or dash cam footage to contact us.
