A motorist who flipped his car and hit other parked vehicles while more than three times the legal drink-drive limit has been banned from the road for two years.

Shane Jubbie (27) of Shawcroft, Sutton, admitted a charge of drink-driving at Mansfield Magistrates’ Court.

The court was told how police had been called to the scene on Marlborough Road, Kirkby, shortly after midnight on 21st February, where they found his Vauxhall Astra on its roof.

Jubbie confirmed to police that he had been behind the wheel and appeared to be drunk and unsteady on his feet.

Defending, Nicola Thorpe, said he was fully co-operative with police and showed remorse when he was taken in for questioning.

She said he had not intended to drink that evening when he met up with friends.

“He made the stupid decision to drive home and he was lucky he didn’t hurt himself or anybody else.

“He is very sorry and had never done anything like this before. It’s shocked him and his family.”

On top of the ban, he was given 100 hours community service, and made to pay £85 costs and a £60 surcharge.
