Men wanted over whisky theft from Nottinghamshire shop

Police are investigating after two men stole a bottle of whisky worth up to £120 from a Nottinghamshire shop yesterday (Tuesday).

Officers say the theft happened at the Mr & Mrs Fine Wine shop on Church Street in Southwell – close to the Minster – at around 4pm.

Now they have released CCTV images of two men they believe may have information about the incident and could help with their investigation.

PC Xanthe Spencer, who is leading the investigation, said: "Shop theft is totally unacceptable and we will always take action against offenders.

“Incidents like these not only harm businesses financially, but they can also be incredibly distressing for staff within the stores.”

Both men have been described as Asian and in their late 20s or early 30s.

One man was wearing a long heavy black coat, black hat, tracksuit bottoms and white trainers. He has been described as thin, around 6ft 1ins tall with short dark hair.

Meanwhile, officers say the second man was stocky in build, had short dark hair and is in his early 30s. He was wearing a blue jacket, white T-shirt, jeans and black trainers.

"We are also keen to hear from anyone who saw a vehicle parked up in a bay in King Street and Church Street car park – opposite Southwell Minster – as we believe that will help with our enquiries,” said PC Spencer.

"If you recognise either men or have any information please call 101, quoting incident number 586 of 30 March 2021."
