A desperate recovering drug addict admitted stealing almost £200 worth of meat from two supermarkets was given a conditional discharge.
Vicky Plastow (36) of Richmond Street, Mansfield, was with her partner and another male when they were spotted on CCTV putting £81 worth of meat in bags in Blidworth’s Tesco and then later that day were stopped by police outside Farm Foods in Mansfield with £167 worth of meat in a trolley.
In mitigation, it was heard that Plastow had her benefits stopped and was ‘desperate’ having to keep her two children. However, she had signed up to a methadone scheme to combat her drug addiction.
She was given an 18-month conditional discharge and made to pay £81 compensation to Tesco.
