The item, believed to have been taken from a car overnight on July 11, was located on Thursday afternoon after keen-eyed police officers spotted a suspicious looking van in Mansfield Woodhouse.

The vehicle was searched at around 4.30pm and the item recovered, along with a small quantity of cannabis and amphetamines.

Richard Place, of Middleton Road, Mansfield Woodhouse, has been charged with theft from a motor vehicle, possession of cannabis and amphetamine, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and driving with no insurance.

The 43-year-old was bailed to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on 12 August.

PC Chantelle McDowall, from Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We take reports of vehicle related crime extremely seriously and work hard to ensure that all cases are fully investigated. I am pleased we have now brought a charge in this case and our investigations continue.”
