Amanda Jane Wood first entered Mansfield’s Sports Direct Store, at St Peter’s Retail Park on July 13 and stole clothing valued at £53.99 and appeared before Nottingham Magistrates’ Court the following day where she was placed on a community order, records show.

But on July 16 Wood, 43, of Bishop Street, Mansfield, entered Sainsbury’s in Mansfield and stole whisky and other spirits to the value of £82.

She returned to the store the following day and again stole whisky, this time valued at £96, and again on July 18, stealing whisky valued at £64.

Wood was committed to prison for a total of 12 weeks when she admitted the offences at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on July 20, but magistrates suspended the sentence for 18 months, court records show.

She also admitted breaching the terms of her community order and must attend at least 15 appointments with the Probation Service during the suspended sentence.

She was also banned from entering St Peter’s Retail park and was ordered to pay a total of £178 in compensation, but no prosecution costs or a victim surcharge was imposed.

A hearing to be held at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court later this month will decide whether to impose a criminal behaviour order on Wood, which would mean a more immediate response if she were to re-offend.
