Mansfield woman threatened to sexually assault victim she suffocated to point of brain damage 25 years ago
A Mansfield woman threatened to sexually assault someone she suffocated and seriously injured more than 25 years ago on her release from a mental hospital, a court has heard.
Martina Huntbach bombarded her victim with 27 calls and 59 text messages over five weeks in July and August of 2023, Nottingham Crown Court was told.
Huntbach, aged 60, who changed her name by deed poll, has been detained under the Mental Health Act for the last 23 years after she was convicted of a serious assault in the 1990s.
Nottingham Crown Court heard she suffocated her victim so severely the attack resulted in brain damage.

A sexual harm prevention order was imposed in April last year after Huntbach expressed a sexual interest in her victim and told members of staff that she was going to sexually assault her on her release.
Huntbach, of Heather Close, Mansfield, admitted breaching the sexual harm prevention order when she appeared at Mansfield Magistrates Court on October 1.
On Tuesday, Judge Steven Coupland told her she knew what she had done was wrong because she deleted the messages afterwards, and tried to blame someone else.
He said the offence was aggravated because of her victim's vulnerability.
In mitigation, the judge said she has “serious longstanding mental health issues which persist” and there had been “a considerable period when you have been out of trouble.”
She deserved credit for her guilty plea, he added.
“A custodial sentence would interrupt your treatment and ironically make you more of a risk of re-offending,” Judge Coupland said.
He sentenced her to 12 months in prison suspended for two years.
