The trial of a Mansfield woman accused of killing her Dutch partner will now begin next week.

Michelle Swift (48), of Ladybrook Place, Ladybrook Estate, denies the murder of Emiel Blankert (48) in December last year.

Swift’s trial was due to start at Nottingham Crown Court on Monday. But legal arguments led to delays, and the defendant was late to court because of delays with her transport from Peterborough, where she is being kept on remand.

On Tuesday, Judge Michael Stokes QC agreed to adjourn the hearing until Tuesday 17th June when a jury will be sworn in. The trial is expected to last between two and three weeks.

Mr Blankert, also of Ladybrook Place, died from severe abdominal injuries four days after he admitted himself to King’s Mill Hospital.
