Mansfield mum 'disgusted with herself' following town centre altercation over football

A mother-of-three from Mansfield got involved in an altercation when one of her friends took a football from a group of youths in Market Place.

Kelly Emma Louise Brailsford was out celebrating her 34th birthday on January 16 when the incident happened, Mansfield Magistrates’ Court heard on Thursday, February 6.Brailsford, of Kipling Street, Mansfield, admitted using threatening behaviour when she appeared before the court, and told magistrates she was “disgusted with herself”.Prosecuting, Robert Carr said: “This incident happened at about 7.40pm in Market Place outside the Corner House public house. It was captured on CCTV and a police officer was dispatched to attend it.”He said the altercation occurred after another member of her group took the football from the youths.The case was temporarily adjourned for the Probation Service to carry out a report, and it was then reported back that Brailsford had recently been the victim of domestic violence.“She had gone into town with her family and friends to celebrate her birthday and there had been an incident where a football had been taken from a group of youths and she admits getting involved,” a member of Probation told the court.“She says it was completely out of character, but it’s clear that if the whole party had not been drinking, then this would not have happened.”Brailsford was given a 12-month community order to include 15 rehabilitation days. She was also ordered to pay £190 in costs and charges.
