Mansfield man who threatened to blow up neighbour's van misread situation because he was drunk
A Mansfield man who threatened to blow up his neighbour's van admitted misreading the situation because he was drunk, a court heard.
When Ricky Wright knocked on the door of the flat downstairs at 3am on March 31 his female neighbour answered by saying, "F*** off," said Becky Allsop, prosecuting.
He then posted a note which read, "Next time I will blow your van up. That's for grassing on me."
The woman's partner shouted, "What's wrong?"

"Continue grassing me up,” Wright replied.” Come round here and I will take your f****** head off."
His neighbours, who have lived at the address for a number of years and had to complain about noise after Wright moved in in December last year, were concerned because their yellow transit van was parked outside.
The court heard he has ten previous convictions for 17 offences, including a public order offence in 2020 and was last in trouble for criminal damage in 2022.
Amy Godson, mitigating, said Wright accepted the offending was caused by alcohol and he has “longstanding issues with substance misuse.”
He keeps out of trouble when he abstains from alcohol but the breakdown of a relationship started him drinking and caused him to “misread circumstances.”
“He fully accepts that he needs help,” she said. “To his credit there have been no further incidents.”
Wright, aged 34, of Charlesworth Court, Mansfield Woodhouse, admitted making threats when he appeared at Mansfield Magistrates Court, on April 15.
On Thursday he received a 12-month community order with a six-month alcohol treatment requirment and ten rehabilitation days. He was fined £120 with £100 compensation. A restraining order was imposed.
