Mansfield man jailed after 'brutal' Rainworth attack left woman seriously injured
A Mansfield man was jailed following a ‘brutal violent attack’ on a woman at Rainworth which left her with serious injuries.
The shocking attack left the victim needing hospital treatment for a broken nose and a cut to her hand required stitches.
Wayne Shaw, aged 35, of Fritchley Street in Mansfield was jailed yesterday after pleading guilty to the 30-minute assault.
Nottinghamshire Police say they had been called out to a house in Rainworth at around 3.30pm, on Saturday, April after a woman was injured in an attack.
Detectives discovered that the incident had also happened in the presence of children.
Shaw was arrested at the scene and was charged with grievous bodily harm in connection with the assault.
He was jailed for a year and three months at Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday, May 4 after he had pled guilty during a previous hearing.
Detective Constable Tracey Marshall of Nottinghamshire Police said: “This was a sustained violent attack that left a victim with serious injuries.
“Thankfully, the woman is on her way to making a full recovery but that does not detract from the fact that this was a brutal incident.
The DC added “Shaw’s guilty plea shows he has remorse for his actions but it is testament to the detectives who worked on this case that he received a jail sentence.
She added: “I hope Shaw uses the time in prison to reflect on his mindless violent actions.”
