A young Mansfield man who was caught dealing cocaine two years ago faces a prison sentence with a three-year starting point, magistrates were told.

Police were acting on a tip-off when they stopped Liam Keogh as he drove a black Audi along Nottingham Road, in Mansfield, on July 4, 2024, said Catherine Wilson, prosecuting.

A quantity of cocaine was discovered in the car, along with around £2,000 in cash and two mobile phones.

A search of his home address revealed deal bags and scales.

The court heard Keogh, of previous good character, potentially faces a prison term with a three-year starting point and a range of two-to-four years.

Morgan Hogarth, mitigating, said the defendant was working for someone else and played a “lesser role”.

He said the offence took place two years ago and Keogh, who was taken into care when he was very young, will be entitled to credit for his guilty plea and his age at the time will be taken into account.

Keogh, now 21, of Nottingham Road, Mansfield, admitted possession with intent to supply class A drugs, when he appeared at Mansfield Magistrates Court on Tuesday, July 7.

A probation report was ordered and he was granted unconditional bail to appear at Nottingham Crown Court for sentence on August 4.
