Mansfield knife crime team arrests five on drug charges

Five people will appear in court for possession of heroin, cocaine and cannabis following patrols by the Knife Crime Team in Mansfield.

Officers stopped and searched five people and seized drugs and a vehicle as they took part in high-visibility patrols on April 1.

One of the five people was also summonsed for driving without insurance or a licence. Officers seized this car, which was also in a dangerous condition.

Police Sergeant Steve King from the Knife Crime Team said: “The area did have shoppers purchasing their essentials, but not groups, so people are sticking to the government’s guidelines.

“We stop searched a number of people during the patrol and five people were reported for summons for various offences during the day.

“We will continue with these patrols throughout the coming weeks and months and ensure the streets of Mansfield are safe.

“We also issued suitable advice and encouragement was given to those encountered regarding the government’s guidelines.”
