Jordan Wall and Conan Davidson’s “sustained attack” happened on Church Street, Warsop, on July 21, last year, Nottingham Crown Court heard on Wednesday.

Wall, 24, of Limestone Terrace, Mansfield Woodhouse, and Davidson 27, of Hatfield Avenue, Meden Vale, both pleaded guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent when they appeared at Nottingham Magistrates Court, earlier this year.

Judge John Burgess told them they were described as “decent hard-working family men” but they “went out behaving llike thugs.”

"You beat up a man who you say was bothering one of your relations,” he said.

"You broke his jaw, and he needed a plate and surgery to fix it. It must have been terrifying. This clearly warrants a prison sentence.

“This was utterly disgraceful. I hope you are both completely ashamed of yourselves because you should be.”

Benn Robinson, for Wall, said the father-of-two had worked in the building trade since leaving school and was the main provider for his family.

"He has spent the last year reflecting and is genuinely apologetic.”

Simon Eckersley, for Davidson, said the scaffolder’s partner was expecting his second child.

The court heard it was a “spontaneous offence” and “drink related.”

Judge Burgess handed them 15 months in prison, suspended for 18 months, and ordered them to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work. Wall received a three month curfew and Davidson must attend 31 rehabilitation days.

They must each pay £2,500 compensation to their victim.
