Mansfield drunk has no recollection of stealing speaker or what he did with it

A Mansfield man got so drunk that he has no recollection of stealing a speaker or what he did with it, a court heard.

Miroslaw Malinowski went into the B&M store in Stockwell Gate on October 23 and stole the speaker, valued at £39, Mansfield Magistrates’ Court was told on Thursday, February 6.Speaking through a translator, Malinowski, 56, of Westfield Lane, Mansfield, admitted the theft when he appeared before the court.Prosecuting, Robert Carr said: “He admitted the offence when he saw the CCTV.”Mitigating, Ian Pridham said: “This was a very low level shop theft. He has no recollection of the actual offence. He was very drunk and can’t explain why he did it, and he doesn’t know to this day what he did with the speaker.”Malinowski was given a six-month conditional discharge, and ordered to pay £39 in compensation, £85 costs and a £21 victim surcharge.
