Mansfield drink driver told to tackle his boozing

A Mansfield boozer who was more than three times over the drink drive limit has been ordered to tackle his drinking, a court has heard.

Andrew Fealy's Vauxhall Astra was stopped by police officers on Baum's Lane, on February 20.

A test revealed he had 126 mcgs of alcohol in 100 mls of breath, when the legal limit is 35 mcgs.

Fealy, 50, of Mayfair Avenue, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol when he appeared at Nottingham Magistrates Court, on February 22.

Magistrates committed him to prison for 12 weeks, but suspended the sentence for 18 months.

They ordered him to join an alcohol treatment programme for six months and pay a £128 surcharge, as well as court costs of £85.

He was banned from driving for 36 months, but he was also offered a rehabilitation course which will reduce the disqualification by 36 weeks if completed before April 2023.
