Mansfield dad who stabbed his own son ‘to the heart’ convicted of wounding with intent
A Mansfield dad who stabbed his own son “to the heart” during an argument in their garden has been convicted of wounding with intent.
Anthony Kimberley, 59, denied the attempted murder of his son Gary, 39, and was cleared after a four-day trial at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday.
The jury found him guilty of the lesser charge of wounding with intent, after deliberating for less than four hours.
Judge Stuart Rafferty KC adjourned the case until Friday, April 17, for the preparation of a probation report.

“The court has to consider the length of sentence you will receive,” he told the defendant.
The court previously heard Gary started an argument about the defendant’s grandchildren at their shared home on Garibaldi Road, in Forest Town, on August 2 last year.
He went into the garden to cool down where his father attempted to strike him but instead fell to the ground, said Stephen Kemp, prosecuting.
Kimberley got up, and returned with a knife which he used to stab his son three times, Mr Kemp said.
A neighbour heard a man say: “I am going to f****** kill you,” but was unable to identify who said it.
Gary hit his father and began walking up Pelham Way, holding his chest, before he collapsed. The next thing he remembered was waking up in hospital.
The defendant later said he couldn’t recollect what happened because he had been drinking and claimed he was concussed, but there was no medical evidence to support this.
Gregor Purcel, defending, said Gary slapped his mum, goaded his father, and had acted aggressively under the influence of alcohol and cocaine.
