Mansfield cannabis dealer began smoking the class B drug when he was only 12

A Mansfield cannabis dealer who began smoking the class B drug when he was only 12 years old fell in with the wrong crowd, a court has heard.

Scott Truman-Reddish was arrested following a tip-off at his home on Aylesbury Way, Forest Town, on August 2, 2024, said Sarah Angus, prosecuting.

Although he denied dealing, officers found a large bag containing 35.4 grams of cannabis hidden behind his bed along with deal bags, scales, and £115 in cash.

Two mobile phones also contained messages referring to six months of drug dealing.

The court heard he played a "significant role" in the offence which has a starting point of one year in prison with a range of 26 weeks to three years.

“He had been smoking cannabis effectively since the age of 12,” said Vicky Clarson, mitigating. “He got in with the wrong crowd. It was really a way of him funding that drug use.

“The people that he was dealing with were friends, and friends of friends.

“He has signficantly changed his lifestlye. He has a child. He and his partner of four years have recently bought a house. He has a full-time, permanent job as a joiner.

“I think it was a bit of a wake-up call to be arrested by the police. He has significantly reduced his intake of cannabis.

"He very much regrets his actions. He has matured since.”

Truman-Reddish, who is now 20, admitted possession with intent to supply a class B drug, when he appeared at Mansfield Magistrates Court, on Tuesday, April 7.

He received a four-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, with 80 hours of unpaid work.
