Man who stole £13,000 of computer gear from Sutton warehouse must explain why he did it

A man who stole more than £13,000 of computer gadgets from an Amazon warehouse in Sutton must explain why he did it to the probation service, a court has heard.

Simon Parsons, aged 35, of Hardy Lane, Calow, Derbyshire, admitted theft by employee when he appeared at Mansfield Magistrates Court.

Lucy Woodcock, prosecuting, said he stole £13,606 of computer components and storage devices from MEA2 Summit Park, on Sherwood Way South, between February 26 and March 6 this year.

"This is well past the custody threshold," the presiding magistrate told him.

In order to find out why he stole the items he was ordered to meet with a probation officer so a pre-sentence report can be prepared.

Parsons, who will receive full credit for his prompt guilty plea, was granted unconditional bail to return to Mansfield to be sentenced on February 5.
