Man undergoes surgery after suffering serious injuries in Sutton fight

A man suffered serious injuries in a fight in Sutton.

The incident happened on Mansfield Road in the town at around 10.30pm on Friday.

The victim had to have surgery overnight following an argument which led to him being punched, causing him to become unconsious and suffering a cut to his right eye and ear.

Officers from Nottinghamshire Police attended the scene and arrested a 26-year-old man on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm.

The suspect remains in police custody.

Detective Sergeant Lauren Morgan, who is leading the investigation, said: “We were called following a report of a man suffering serious injuries following a dispute.

“A man was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to hospital as he required surgery to his head.

“Thankfully his injuries aren’t considered to be life-threatening or life-altering.”
