Justin Marriott, 32 of Wild Geese Way in Mexborough, pleaded guilty to two trademark offences and one proceeds of crime charge at Nottingham Crown Court last week.

The fake goods included GHD straighteners, Rolex watches, Mac make-up, and Nike and Ralph Lauren clothing, and officers worked with the trademark holders to confirm the items were counterfeit.

Marriott, who received a 10-month suspended prison sentence and 150 hours unpaid work, is due to return to court in May for a proceeds of crime hearing.

Councillor Gordon Wheeler, Vice-Chairman of Nottinghamshire County Council’s Communities and Place Committee, said: “Counterfeit goods deprive the UK economy of billions of pounds and often fund drug dealing and other types of crimes, so selling such items is not a victimless crime.
