Man’s restraining order to continue

Neighbours called the police when they heard arguing and a disturbance at a woman’s home, a court was told.

Damien Boot (25), of Bancroft Lane, Mansfield, had visited Samantha Groom in breach of a restraining order, Nottingham Crown Court was told.

When the police arrived she answered the door and told them she had been arguing with her brother and he had left, said Christopher Geeson, prosecuting. But Boot was found hiding upstairs and said he had been invited by her.

Judge Jonathan Teare said he should be sending Boot to prison but it appeared Miss Groom ‘wants to run with the hare and hunt with the hounds.’

The judge gave Boot one day in prison, but said the two-year restraining order would remain in force: “You’re still not to see her.”

If she contacts you, you can tell her she’s committing a criminal offence as well.’
