It is thought the van driver got in his vehicle and drove off after an argument broke out. It is unclear whether he deliberately ran over the victim.

A scene was put in place while investigations were carried out.

Detective Sergeant Ricky Ellis, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “The victim is recovering in hospital and thankfully his injuries do not appear to be life threatening or life altering.

“We are working to establish the full circumstances of the incident and are speaking with witnesses who were in the area at the time. CCTV is being examined and enquiries continue.

“While we have made an arrest, we are keen to speak to anyone who saw what happened or has relevant dash-cam footage.
