A man arrested for multiple rape charges as part of Operation Daybreak has been remanded in custody.
Ivan Bethell (61) of Barnhill Road, Wembley, north east London, appeared at Mansfield Magistrates’ Court yesterday, Wednesday 25th February, to answer the charges.
He is accused of two counts of indecent assault on a girl under 14, two counts of rape of a female aged under 16, one count of gross indecency with a girl under 14, two counts of inciting an act of gross indecency with a girl under 14, and three counts of incite a girl under 14 to commit an act of gross indecency. All the offences relate to one victim.
No pleas were entered during the short hearing.
He was held on remand to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 11th March.
Operation Daybreak is an investigation into abuse at a number of children’s homes across Nottinghamshire.
In the course of their enquiries, a number of other offences not related to abuse in children’s homes are being investigated.
