Man due in court after woman punched in the face in Sutton

A man is due before magistrates today after a woman was left hospitalised by a punch to the face in Sutton.

Gareth Davis, 40, was arrested after the woman - who remains in hospital in a serious condition - was allegedly attacked on Coxmoor Road.

After she made her way home on Tuesday (March 30) where she was treated by paramedics Davis was found by police following a search of the area.

Davis, of Byron Road in Annesley, has been charged with grievous bodily harm and will appear at Nottingham Magistrates Court.

Detective Sergeant Matt Scott, investigating the incident, said: "A woman remains in hospital in a serious condition and we are very keen to establish the circumstances around what happened.

"This type of incident and this behaviour is taken extremely seriously.

"A single punch to the face can have catastrophic consequences and we will thoroughly investigate wherever this type of incident has been reported to us.”
