Man in critical condition after being ‘punched’ in Mansfield town centre

A 22-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and released on bail.

Officers were called to Clumber Street just after 3.30am on Sunday to a report that a man had punched another man.

The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

A spokesman for Nottinghamshire police today said the man who has not been named was in a critical condition.

Detective Sergeant Matt Scott, said: "This incident happened after a busy Saturday night in Mansfield, so we believe that there will be people who have information which could help our investigation.

"Any detail, no matter how small it may seem, may be important to our enquiries.”
