Man charged with stealing £1,400 worth of alcohol and chocolate from Ashfield shops

A Huthwaite man has been charged with the theft of over £1,400 of alcohol and chocolate during 13 shop thefts in the Ashfield area.

Jamie Cooke, 34, of New Street, Huthwaite, has been charged with 13 counts of shop theft between Sunday 23 February and Monday 30 March and include a theft from the BP Garage in Sutton Road, Huthwaite.

He has also been charged with the theft of a bicycle from outside the Cost Cutters store on Sutton Road, Huthwaite on Saturday 28 March.

Cooke has been remanded into custody to appear at court via video link on Thursday 2 April.

Detective Superintendent Kevin Broadhead from Nottinghamshire Police said: “Our local communities and businesses are continuing to work through some incredibly challenging times and I would like to be absolutely clear that Nottinghamshire Police officers, staff and volunteers are continuing to proactively target anyone who we suspect may have been involved in committing offences in our county.”
