Man charged after alleged iron bar attack in Ashfield

A man has been charged in connection with an incident which left a man with serious head injuries following an alleged iron bar attack in Ashfield.

Jamie Frost, 40, of Fackley Road, Sutton, is accused of causing grievous bodily harm and was due to appear in court today (Tuesday).

The victim was struck to the head, face, back and arms and he remains in hospital following the incident which happened on High Street, Stanton Hill, at around 1am on Monday.

His injuries have been described as life-altering, but not life threatening.

Det Insp Stuart Temple, who is leading the investigation, said: "We know that incidents of this nature will be a cause of real concern for many people living nearby but I would like to reassure the community that our officers have responded quickly, which has made this arrest and now charge possible.

"We believe this is an isolated incident with no danger to the rest of the community."
