Man arrested over arson after two dogs die in Mansfield house fire

A 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of arson after a house fire in Mansfield .

Police were called to Johnson Drive at around 10.30am after a house was reported to be on fire.

The occupants of the house were uninjured in the incident, however, two dogs sadly died in the fire yesterday (Tuesday January 28).

Detectives investigating the report of arson are questioning the 29-year-old man in connection with the incident.

Detective Sergeant Laura Clarke, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “It is tragic that two dogs died as a result of a fire that we are currently treating as suspicious.

“This is a residential area and I am hopeful that someone will have some information that may help us as part of our investigation.

“If you witnessed anything suspicious at around 10.30am in Johnson Drive, please do not hesitate to contact us on 101 quoting incident number 324 of 28 January 2020.”
