Man arrested over A1 cyclist’s death

A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal crash on the A1 in Nottinghamshire earlier this month

A 43-year-old cyclist was killed after a collision between a HGV and his bicycle on the southbound carriageway close to the end of the A634 Spital Road slip road, about one mile south of Blyth services.

The cyclist, from West Yorkshire, had been taking part in an organised time trial event when the collision occurred at about 8.55am on Sunday 18 March.

A 42-year-old man has now been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has been interviewed and bailed pending further enquiries until a date in May.

Officers investigating the case have reiterated an appeal for witnesses.
