A man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary in Kirkby.

Police attended Nuncargate Road after a man was reported to have been inside an elderly person’s house at around 12am on Friday.

He is believed to have gained entry to the victim’s bedroom.

Officers arrested a 22-year-old man on suspicion of burglary at the house.

Noboby is believed to have been injured in the incident.

Detective Sergeant Andrew Hall, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “As well as a financial cost, burglary can have a lasting impact on victim’s mental health and incidents such as this are terrifying for victims.

“Officers did a fantastic job to arrive within minutes of the call and arrest a suspect, resolving the situation as safely a possible.

“We are now working to establish the circumstances.

“We take reports of burglary very seriously and will always thoroughly investigate incidents in order to take appropriate action against offenders.”
