Man arrested at Sutton pub for attacking woman and throwing glass

A 32-year-old man is in custody after a report that a man had attacked a woman and was throwing glass at anyone who tried to intervene.

Nottinghamshire Police officers attended The Blue Bell, Mansfield Road, Sutton-in-Ashfield around 7.10pm yesterday (Saturday 17 October) and evacuated the pub.

A man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of affray, kidnap, criminal damage, assault and actual bodily harm and remains in custody.

Ambulance crews treated a man for a laceration to his forearm. A woman was taken to hospital with wrist and head injuries.

Detective Inspector Kaz Smithson said: "This was an alarming situation for these pub goers last night who were caught up in a violent incident.

"We evacuated the pub as a safety measure and to enable us to talk calmly to the man reported to be involved.

"Thankfully it was brought to a conclusion quickly and without more people suffering injuries.”
