Man arrested after woman found with serious injuries in Mansfield street

A 60-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision.

Officers were called to a report that a woman had been found with serious head and facial injuries in Rosemary Street at the junction with St John's Road in Mansfield at around 4.15pm yesterday (11 November).The woman was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre where she is believed to be in a critical but stable condition.Detective Constable Sarah Stables from Nottinghamshire's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "Initially it was not known how the woman came to be injured but early investigations suggested a vehicle was involved and a man has since come forward in connection with it."Our thoughts are with the victim and her family as we continue our work to uncover what happened."Please contact Nottinghamshire Police quoting incident 447 of 11 November with any information that can help.
