Man arrested after spraying petrol on another man in Mansfield dispute

Police have arrested a 35-year old man in Mansfield on suspicion of spraying a bottle of petrol at another man during following a dispute between the pair.

Nottinghamshire Police were called at 3.20pm on Saturday May 16 to the report of the assault, which is understood to have taken place near to a garage complex in Layton Avenue.

The man was arrested suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent to cause injury.

The man remains in police custody this afternoon (Sunday 17 May) as detectives continue their enquiries.

The victim – another man in his thirties – is not believed to have been seriously injured during the assault.

Inspector Nick Butler said: “We believe that this is an isolated incident where those involved are known to one another and we are confident there is no wider threat to the public.” For witnesses, the incident number is 398 of 16 May.
