Man arrested after Mansfield home raided as homeowners slept
A 24-year-old man has been arrested after a burglary at a Mansfield home while the homeowners slept inside.
A woman woke up to find a door open and items missing, which included a wallet and a smart watch, from her house in Nottingham Road, Mansfield, at around 6am on Tuesday, July 20.
Detectives carried out enquiries and, within 24 hours of the crime, arrested a man in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Detective Sergeant Andy Hall, of Nottinghamshire's criminal investigation department, said: "It can be extremely distressing to experience a crime like this where an intruder has been inside the house whilst the occupants were sleeping.
"It's completely unacceptable and we will not tolerate it. We take all burglaries seriously and work alongside our two dedicated burglary teams to actively reduce the number of incidents across the county."
The man has been released on conditional bail while enquiries are ongoing.
