A 31-year-old man has now been arrested on suspicion of burglary and remains in police custody.

Detective Inspector Stuart Temple said: “Nottinghamshire Police take reports such as this very seriously and will always proactively and thoroughly investigate reported incidents and work hard to make arrests.

“I would like to take this opportunity to remind members of the public to be vigilant. Burglary is usually an opportunist offence with burglars looking for the easiest way of getting into your home without being seen or disturbed.

“Many burglaries happen because a door has been left unlocked or window has been left open, which is really an open invitation for burglars.

"We can’t stress enough how important it is to make sure your front and back doors are locked and your windows are closed and locked, even when you’re in the house.”
