Man arrested after man injured with a metal pole in Sutton street fight

Police have arrested a suspect following reports of several men fighting in the street in Sutton.

They are now appealing for witnesses to the incident which left a man with facial injuries.

Officers were called to Brierley Road at around 7.15pm on Tuesday (30 June 2020). A man had been hit in the face with a metal pole and suffered a broken jaw.

A 48-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of affray and remains in custody.

Detective Sergeant Charlotte Henson said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of this incident. This type of violence will not be tolerated in our communities and we are working hard to trace those responsible and bring them to justice.

“We’re urging anyone who saw what happened or who has any information, and who hasn’t yet come forward, to get in touch with us by calling Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident 727 of 30 June 2020.”
