Detective Sergeant Lauren Morgan, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Fire can have devastating consequences and it is fortunate that no one was harmed in last night’s incident.

“This senseless act has resulted in tens of thousands of pounds worth of damage to cars and homes and we are pleased to have made an arrest in connection with the fire.

“However, our investigation is at a very early stage and I’d appeal for anyone who may have witnessed something suspicious in the area last night or has any information that could aid our investigation to get in touch as soon as possible.”
