Man arrested after 40 bags of drugs found in Mansfield

An imitation firearm and bags of drugs were recovered when a man was arrested in Mansfield yesterday.

Officers attended a house in Cavendish Street after receiving a report of suspicious activity there.

When police searched the property, they found 40 bags of what are believed to be class A drugs as well as an imitation pistol.

A 31-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs and possession of an imitation firearm.

A quantity of cash, weighing scales and mobile phones were also recovered from the scene.

The man has been released under investigation in connection with the incident.

Police Sergeant Andrew Doran, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Drug offences are incredibly serious and we thoroughly investigate all reports made to Nottinghamshire Police.

“This arrest is a fine example of how we work closely with our communities to take proactive action against those who commit drug-related crime."
